yayz Venice!! yayz!!

So I made it. Granted, I made it two days ago and this is the first time I’ve been able to sit down for any extended period of time, but YAY, I MADE ITT!  It was a hell of a trip. I got stuck on the runway in Phili for 3 hours. Yes, 3. I had fallen asleep before we left the gate, woke up an hour later and we were still on the gate. Twas very confused.

But i finally arrived to a BEAUTIFUL city with navigating issues. Luckily, I ran into a mob of Crimson Crazies clad people who were just as lost as me. After an hour and a half or or so, between the bus and the bus driver laughing at my Italian, the water boat (vaporetto),  and the directions our leader didn’t give us to the dorm but instead told us to “Do [our] best and find it,” I got to my pretty spacious dormroom and the internet hookup that wasn’t supposed to be there. Here’s to little miracles.

I had a long, but Italian-y day yesterday. Besides orientation, which I feel has no correlation to what I am doing here, Rachel and I went on a trek to San Marco, in search of cell-phones and prettiness, after enjoying to deliciously over-priced pizza (it was still the best pizza I ever had. EVER.)On the way, a sufficiently greasy Italian man called me, bellisima. Rachel believes he must have done a survey and realized I was the MOST beautiful, but whatevs. We made it to San Marco’s Palazzo with little difficulty and words can not describe. It was one of those movie moments when the camera circles the young girl as she realizes the beauty before her. It was that, except with many more tourists and a petite Asian woman clad in a wedding dress doing a photo-shoot amongst the
pigeons. Weirdness. But it was beautiful.

Things that became obvi whilst walking. I was the only black person there and Rachel and I are in capable of navigation. I think the number of dead-ends encountered reached 5ish. Finally, we ended at the water-edge with no way to go, ‘cept the vaporetto approaching. Flynnie: “This is gonna be a trend. We are gonna go walking, get lost, and have to boat it back.” We did indeed make it back and rewarded ourselves with gelato. Really yummy gelato. Kicks Vaccaro’s ass gelato. Yay adventures. And I’m sure there are many more to come. Okay, naptime. My body hurts. But on the brightside, the walking is exercise and the getting lost is more walking therefore more exercise. Imma be super-fly when I return….or at least the walking will counteract the pizza and gelato =)
